Separation Equipment

Petro-Techna engineers and fabricates Oil-Water (two phase) separators and Oil-Gas-Water (three-phase) separators utilized by the global Oil and Gas industry. Since 1989, we have established a reputation as experts in the manufacture of efficient separation systems for all types of production fields around the world. Our Crude Oil Production Separators are tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients. Irrespective of the corrosion tendency and API gravity, foaming characteristics, presence of paraffin, hydrates and impurities, Petro-Techna will custom engineer and manufacture a reliable separator equal to the task. Some of the configurations and types of separators we design are shown below:

Knock-out Drums

PTIL provides the global Oil and Gas industry with horizontal and vertical knock-out drums. These vessels are used for bulk separation of gas and entrained liquid droplets. The knock-out drums that we design and fabricate have an unlimited turndown, a very high slug handling capacity and a low pressure drop. Since 1989, many of these have been deployed as Flare Knock-out Drums. They trap entrained liquid droplets that would otherwise be vented through the flare stacks with attendant environmental problems. Other prominent application areas include Slug Catchers and Production Separators for low gas/oil ratio scenarios.

Wiremesh Demisters

The wire mesh demister type separator is the conventional approach to the removal of entrained liquid in a gas stream. PTIL separators with wire mesh demisters are renowned for high efficiency demisting of gas. Some of the unique features of these separators include their high turndown ratio, high slug handling capacity, low pressure drop and high liquid removal efficiency. They come in horizontal and vertical configurations depending on the specified Gas-Oil Ratio (GOR). Typical applications include production/test separators, glycol contactors and inlet scrubbers.

Vane Demisters

PTIL vane demisters have been deployed in fields where high efficiency separation of liquids is required. Due to the very effective separation of liquid and gas in the vane section, this type of separator has much more flexibility over a greater range of operating pressures and flow rates than the wire mesh demister. The "non-clogging" characteristic of the internals also ensure that the PTIL vane type separator is capable of handling liquids which are likely to plug wire mesh demisters. The separator is therefore particularly applicable to the separation of gas and oil, or oil contaminated condensate.

Multi-Cyclone Separators

Multi-cyclone gas separators/scrubbers offer an economical way to remove solid and liquid particles from a gas stream. They are mainly applicable in cases where a highly efficient separation of solids and liquids is required. PTIL multi-cyclone scrubbers are self-cleaning and need only periodic blow down for removal of collected material. They are also highly efficient over a wide range of operating conditions. Other advantages of our multi-cyclone scrubbers include their space economization and low pressure drop.

Gas Filter Separators

The engineers and technicians at PTIL design and fabricate gas filter separators used to separate liquid and solid particles from gas streams. Unlike the multi-cyclone scrubber, the gas filter separator cannot handle more than small quantities of liquid (greater than 5-30 BBLS/MMSCF) and is often used in series with the multi-cyclone separator to enhance solid separation as a polishing filter. Some of the applications where these separators are deployed include compressor stations, gas storage systems and fuel lines.

Coalescers

PTIL designs and manufactures Coalescers that are used for the separation of primary and secondary liquid-liquid dispersions in the Oil and Gas industry. Our Coalescers effect the desired separation through a unique promotion of droplet growth in a dispersion and efficient settling mechanisms. PTIL Coalescers are fitted with a Coalescer bed, a prefabricated Coalescer mat or a Coalescer cartridge depending on required separation efficiency and the nature of the service fluid.

Gas Boots

PTIL gas boots are used as the final separation stage of an oil stream on its way to atmospheric storage tanks. Operating at near atmospheric pressure, these tall slender vessels remove final liberated gas to equilibrium from the oil stream. This minimizes tank venting, which improves safety, minimizes pollution, and often recovers a valuable vapor stream. Gas boot separation is most efficient at pressures close to atmospheric. For this reason, they are installed as close to storage tanks as possible. Gas boots oil level is kept high enough to maximize gravity drainage to the tank farm. Exiting gas velocities are low to remove entrained hydrocarbon liquid droplets in micron size range.
